Grants for the hiring of predoctoral research staff in training from the Junta de Extremadura

The Junta de Extremadura has approved a call for grants aimed at hiring research staff in training under a predoctoral contract to carry out research work with the objective of obtaining a doctoral degree from the University of Extremadura, in the areas of R&I intervention defined in the Research and Innovation Strategy for Smart Specialization of Extremadura 2021–2027.

This line of grants is intended to contribute to the development of research careers, the incorporation of talent, and employability, with the goal of creating an attractive scientific career and improving knowledge transfer in the research field.

It is a great opportunity to pursue a doctoral thesis at the CIIAE, on a topic as interesting and current as Energy Storage.

It is important to note that this selection process is independent of the already initiated predoctoral staff recruitment process at the CIIAE (job offers published on the website on May 18, 2023, DOE No. 82 of May 2, 2023). To apply for this grant, you must do so through the Junta de Extremadura platform.

At the CIIAE, you can conduct research and complete your thesis in:

  • Thermal Storage: development of porous materials / development of phase-change materials for application in energy storage. Contact: Dr. Breogán Pato pato@ciiae.org
  • Electrical Storage: topics on Li batteries, metal-air batteries, flow batteries, recycling, eco-design, etc. Contact: Dr. Juan Manuel Pérez perez@ciiae.org
  • Hydrogen Storage and Power-to-X: topics on hydrogen generation, storage, transport, and applications, as well as CO₂ capture and its uses (supercritical high pressure, carbonates). Additionally, Power-to-X, i.e., renewable generation of synthetic fuels such as methanol and ammonia. Contact: Dr. David Parra parra@ciiae.org
  • Multi-scale Modeling and Simulation: including atomistic simulations and energy systems analysis. Contact: parra@ciiae.org
