Iberian Center for Energy Storage Research (CIIAE)

The General State Administration, through the Ministry of Science and Innovation (MCIN) and the Center for Energy, Environmental and Technological Research (CIEMAT), together with the Junta de Extremadura, through the Department of Economy, Science, and Digital Agenda and FUNDECYT-PCTEX, have initiated actions aimed at the creation, equipping, and implementation of an Iberian R&D center for energy storage.

These actions will be carried out under the management of FUNDECYT-PCTEX until the signing of the corresponding international instruments between the Kingdom of Spain and the Portuguese Republic, which will allow the creation and approval of the statutes of the Iberian Center for Energy Storage Research (CIIAE), which will ultimately be responsible for managing and operating the elements that make up the CIIAE.

Both parties, jointly and through equal contributions, will collaborate to promote the creation and provision of the essential elements required for the implementation of the CIIAE infrastructure.

The main objective of the center will be to contribute to solving scientific and technological challenges that enable the management of green energies through scientific research, technological development, and innovations in energy storage to meet industrial demands and societal needs for a sustainable energy future.
