LEOPARD

The LEOPARD project is framed within energy efficiency and the circular economy. Its main objectives are:
(a) to develop more efficient sodium-ion batteries, specifically focusing on the cathode to synthesize materials using a novel and sustainable method based on supercritical fluids, enabling the production of materials with improved properties compared to current ones.
The project also focuses on (b) establishing a sustainable and scalable recycling method for sodium batteries, also based on the use of supercritical fluids, which allows the recovery of high value-added materials for reintegration into new cathode materials or for refurbishing existing ones and reusing them as cathodes.
Finally, the project is accompanied by a life cycle assessment that will support the project in evaluating and proposing solutions with a lower environmental impact. This analysis will make it possible to identify areas for improvement in terms of sustainability and ensure that the developed technologies contribute to a more circular economy.
