Our work integrates science, engineering, and applied innovation, generating knowledge and technology to address the challenges of the energy transition.<\/p><p>As a next-generation scientific infrastructure, the CIIAE brings together advanced laboratories, pilot plants, and multidisciplinary teams that work in a coordinated manner to transform ideas into scalable solutions. From Extremadura, we contribute to positioning energy storage as a driver of competitiveness, industrial development, and decarbonization in Research Centre (CIIAE) is a strategic scientific infrastructure jointly promoted by the Government of Spain and the Government of Portugal to drive the development of advanced energy storage technologies and support the transition to a decarbonized energy system. Its establishment has been made possible by a joint investment from the <b>Government of Spain<\/b>, the <b>Regional Government of Extremadura<\/b>, and the <b>European Union<\/b>, within the framework of the <b>Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR)<\/b> funded by the European instrument <b>NextGenerationEU<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>The creation, equipping, and commissioning phase of the centre (2020-2025) has been primarily supported by two complementary funding instruments. On the one hand, the <b>European Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF)<\/b> has financed the creation of the CIIAE&#8217;s infrastructure, including the construction of its facilities, the development of laboratories and pilot plants, and the acquisition of advanced scientific equipment. On the other hand, the <b>Complementary Plan for Renewable Energy and Hydrogen<\/b>, promoted by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities in collaboration with the autonomous communities, has funded research activities, the development of scientific projects, and the consolidation of the center&#8217;s capabilities. The CIIAE has thus become a key hub for applied research, collaboration with industry, and technology transfer in the field of energy
